I am a zealous activist of wearing clothes that you like and that you feel comfortable in. Comfortable is confident, and confident is classy. Staying true to your preppy self doesn't mean putting on the best clothes every day or always accesorizing to the T. Staying preppy means staying you and staying true to God. Being classy, educated, and mature, all thing associated with the word "preppy" aren't things that come from your appearance. Acting the way God wants us to act is far more important than clothing.
Of course, I love buying and wearing a great Vineyard Vines shirt as much as the next blogger, but sometimes we need to take that day to just be casual and to just be originally you. Being comfortable with yourself and not what you wear is the key to cofidence. Knowing you're a true child of God and never forgetting your birthright is refreshing. Knowing that I am not how I look actually gives me more freedom to really wear clothing. You wear the clothing. The clothing doesn't wear you. Take that gleeful joy in dressing your best, but the covering should never matter more than the treasure inside because your identity doesn't come from clothing. You could wear the preppiest outfits every day and always look perfect, but if you aren't acting worthy of the Lord, those perfect outfits turn to dust. A kind person glows more than gold, but once the nice clothes are stripped away from a "together" kind of person, what is really left? That first take of someone dressed to the nines makes you think they have it all together. They don't. Neither do I. Neither do any of us, if we are really being honest. So, dressing casually comfortable can be theraputic, because it grounds me in knowing that I wear the clothes, but that they are not what matters. I love clothes, but I know that outward appearances are fleeting. It isn't what you wear. It's how you wear it, and true classiness comes from inside. God loves you no matter what you wear. So stay classy my lovely readers ❤, Sydney Update: I just remembered the Max Lucado book, If I Had a Green Nose, and realized this is what is says: God made you exactly how he wants you, and no matter what color nose you have, it doesn't change you in his eyes :).
